Description

Mena Kozminsky-Meyerowitz was born into a pioneering Zionist family and grew up in Eretz-Yisrael in the late twenties and thirties. During World War II, fate intervened when she met and married a handsome Australian soldier. In 1944, she made a hazardous sea journey to join him in Melbourne. Mena, then twenty, promised her family that although she was leaving them, she would endeavour to do more for her beloved Israel than if she stayed. She never forgot that promise and dedicated her life in Melbourne to Jewish education. Mena was the founding principal of the highly-regarded Yavneh College in Melbourne.
