Description
Doreen Beckwith’s husband vanishes from their home in Queensland, leaving her with 2 young children. Eventually, after returning to her home country, England, Doreen meets the love of her life. However, while civil divorce presents no problem, the Jewish Rabbinical Court, the Beth Din, refuses to grant her a Jewish divorce, a get. They consider her an agunah, an abandoned or chained woman, forbidden to remarry. Doreen tells her story with great clarity and courage.
