Just think it never happened

Goldberg, Paulette

A fascinating story of survival. Celine promised her mother to look after her little sister Paullette, and she does. Together, they wander across a dangerous war-blighted landscape of France during WW2.

Description

September 1942. A desperate mother in France is about to be deported by the Germans. She pays the stationmaster to hide her three children, Joseph, twelve, Celine, nine, and Paulette, four. After a few weeks the money runs out and they are put out on the street. Joseph leaves for Paris and finds relative safety in a monastery. Celine promised her mother to look after her little sister and she does. Together, they wander across a dangerous war-blighted landscape, sometimes alone, sometimes placed by the Underground in temporary haven. Not to be missed.
