Description

Max Stern was the eldest child in a close family in Bratislava – until his parents and two younger brothers were murdered in Auschwitz. Max went into hiding in Bratislava and when caught, was sent to Lichtenrade concentration camp. He survived the death marches and returned to Czechoslovakia where he resumed the reins of his stamp dealing business. Max’s father introduced him to stamps when he was a boy. By sixteen, he was supporting his family through dealing and today, Max Stern and Company is one of the best known stamp dealers in the world.
