Description
Kitty Sandy grew up surrounded by music and from her room she could hear singers practicing scales at the Budapest Opera House. A jazz band was playing Stormy Weather when the announcement was made that the Germans had just entered Budapest.
She survived the war in the city, living through horror, fear and hunger until fleeing the country with her husband and building a new life in Australia. Through the Musica Viva Younger Group, Kitty and Leslie promoted Chamber Music in Melbourne for decades and since 1991, Kitty Sandy has programmed and presented classical music on Saturday mornings on Radio 3MBS.
