Eva Parush has written this story for her grandson, Ricky, as a gift on the occasion of his bar mitzvah.
Eva came from a little village in Carpatho-Russia where apple trees grew along the roadside and life was sweet. War changed everything and Eva lost both parents and her two younger brothers in the Holocaust. Since arriving in Australia in 1949, Eva′s life has had many happy times – her marriage to Nelson and her two children – but there has been tragedy as well.
Through it all, she has shown the courage and strength of a true survivor.
